Secunda Marine Services (Secunda) has accomplished enviable improvements in its safety performance over the past five years which are a direct result of the commitment of management and employees in the implementation of the QSM system as well as the philosophy that safety takes precedence over all tasks. Improvements are attained from two key safety performances indicatorswhere, based on 200,000 man hours worked, the frequency of Lost Time Accidents dropped from 2.68 in 1998 to 0.30 for 2005. Recordable incidents for the same period dropped from 6.56 to 1.2. Through top management commitment, various management initiatives, close performance monitoring and measurement, safety incentive schemes, in-house training and several hazard identification and control programs, Secunda aims at continuing the improvement of its safety and environmental protection, as well as customer satisfaction recordwith the ultimate goal of achieving excellency in our performance. |
